Screentime revisits missing persons cold-cases in their new series for TVNZ 1 - ‘The Missing’.

A programme applying credible modern investigative techniques, and science to missing persons cases
in New Zealand.

The requirement that Producer Philly Iles brought to us was that the graphics needed to stylistically reflect
and enhance the shows feel - they needed to be up to date and modern, offer a sense of realism and really
engage the viewer in what were to be these incredibly emotive stories.

To truly create a sense of some of the treacherous terrain encountered in many of these cases, 3D maps had to be
generated from very detailed height maps and aerial or satellite photography.

Composited animations supplied an enhanced understanding of the varied techniques used in both original search
and rescue missions and the re-investigations undertaken with modern tools and insights.

To enhance the show’s overall look Gary Leano delivered a brilliant, suitably haunting title sequence as well
as modeling, animating and compositing some twenty-five 3D maps.

"It was a pleasure to work with the Gary's from Afterglow.
Both the titles creation and the complex 3D maps used in The Missing were high end,
the team bought fresh ideas to the project, were very easy to work with
and the end product was excellent."
